It is Worth The Trip

OK all of my friends out there who travel this great country - what have you seen in your travels that fits the title of this blog post? Mary and I travel all over and we LOVE to tour the unusual (we hope you check out our Shutterfly site for picture albums of our travels). So, now, let us know what is in your area or what you have visited that made you say: "It was worth the trip!" - feel free to send as many suggestions as you feel meet the title. I am sure that there will be multiple suggestions (I may even try to tabulate the numbers - but that sounds like a lot of work !)

I will compile a list of suggestions by state and then post it (eventually). I know there are several sites on the Internet (and MK & I do use them !) but I would like to compile a 'personal list'.

To get the 'ball rolling' - I am suggesting that anyone who is going to be traveling on Interstate 78 through Pennsylvania stop in the Village of Shartlesville and visit ROADSIDE AMERICA. It is an incredible effort - building a mammoth train set that ties in the wonders of the United States. The pictures may give you an idea of the vastness but they don't do it justice,

More weird vegetation

OK - I am really enjoying my 'immersion' year. I think that this was the earliest we have ever arrived and I know it is the longest we have stayed. There is all sorts of stuff that is 'new, different and wonderful'.
Alongside the cart path which runs along the canal there is a tree - a BIG tree - and I guess it didn't put on sunscreen with a big enough SPF sunblock factor. It is peeling like a tourist during Spring Break!

I am so, SO glad it isn't on my property. I complain about the Live Oak in the neighborhood that shed leaves twice a year but this is ... this just is ...

and What the Heck lives in that bird house??  that's a BIG hole !!!

LAISSEZ FAIRE

YEP ..........  "LAISSEZ FAIRE" -

a policy, usually referring to 'government non-interference', especially when dealing with economics.

It is conservative in the way it deals with things - I admit that I am a 'conservative'!!!!

The literal translation comes across something like: Let It Be.

I believe in the policy.

Laissez Faire - - Let It Be

This little fella is known by many names - Black Racer, Blue Racer, Whip Snake hopefully you can zero in on its scales (near the middle) you can see the 'blue' . He was in our driveway and I know he and his family help by eating insects and stuff but .............
Laissez Faire, Laissez Faire, Laissez Faire - - I sure hope he believes in the same thing !!!!!!!!!!!!1

Friends . . .

One of the greatest things about retiring and buying our motor home was the wonderful chance we have had to travel this great country AND to meet all of the wonderful people out there. BUT it is a two-edged sword. Before we knew many people but they were in a few places so when bad weather or other disasters occurred we only had to look at a few area on the map to know that they were 'safe' ... but now, YOU"RE ALL OVER THE DAMN PLACE !!!! One blog of "Florida Friends' has them moving northward out of Nebraska into South Dakota - Damn - NOAA says there is kinds of stuff going on there now!! Another said they have reached their destination in Wisconsin.

I wouldn't give any of you up BUT it sure makes me nervous at times ..................

it came from outer space

I am not really into plants and stuff but this one lives in our front yard. MK saw a growth in the center of the plant - reminiscent of a 'pod' of some alien invasion -- the pictures are over a week ...

unfortunately I don't know how to put the pictures in proper order since these are just backward ... bottom pic is #1 ... damn

you can see the 'growth' in the middle --- it started as a really tightly closed, pale green 'thing' ... next year I will have to get a shot of that...

Spring turns to Summer

As Spring turned to Summer - we watched our snowbird friends leave - we chose to remain here longer than we have ever done so it has been interesting watching as streets become deserted - every week there are more friends to say 'good bye' to. Today the "Z's" left for PA and tomorrow the "B's" leave for Michigan - - we will see them during the summer but ... 'tis sad, so sad ...
