OK - I must apologize to everyone who was waiting for pictures of out Natchez Trace Trip - we have been having so much fun that I have been too tired to post stuff. We have passed the 300 mile mark so have only about 120 miles to go - the weather has been fantastic, people have been so friendly and the scenery is great !! MK & I continue to fine the 'unusual' to visit or tour - today it was the 'Coondog Cemetary'.

I will get photos up when we get home next week . . . probably . . . maybe ??

'GOOD NIGHT IRENE' - - wow, that was something else - RAIN - steady and pounding - but we were glad that Kevin's house is definitely above any flood plain ( so is the storage unit where we have 'stuff').
The village that Kevin lives in is named Wappingers Falls - the falls are really kind of a joke - a creek flowing over some rocks - - - OH YEAH ???
That tree sure looks surprised - where did the creek go?
But everything was good here so we are busy making our plans for our upcoming motorcycle trip - we are going down to Natchez, MS and then traveling back up the Natchez Trace. We will be uploading everything on Friday and this is what we'll look like on Saturday . . .
There should be some good shots along our route - I will have MK's netbook so I will be able to update regularly - not sure if I will be posting on my picture site yet - after we return we'll be packing up and heading South so they may be delayed.

As one of the 'projects', guests are supposed to design their own idea of an ice cream flavor and then design a package: here is MK's

We played some golf;
went to Intercourse;
got canned;

OTR - again!  This has been a busy - VERY BUSY summer for Mary K and Me. We left Florida in early June so that we could get up to our townhouse in PA. We needed to get it ready for the realtors since we have decided that it is no longer where we wish to reside. Our plans of traveling during the Winter months was ok - right up until we realized that almost everything "closes' or is 'open with restricted hours' !  So the "NEW" plan is Florida and then travel during the Summer.
Here it is, the middle of August - we took a 3 day visit to Newport, RI with our friends Doug & Audrey (the picture is of the pretty one of the pair) and are now camping over in Lancaster, PA. There is a tentative offer on the house (I will consider it 'firm' when I have the cash !!) and our motorcycle trip is scheduled for the first two weeks of September

I am planning to use this site more often to get pictures of our adventures posted - please stand by   :)

From mid-February to mid-March we are extremely busy - first with the theater group and the annual play and then comes SPRINGFEST, a celebration of daily activities which will culminate with the 'Golf Tournament Formerly Known As Pigfest' (they used to actually roast a pig but now it is 'pulled pork sandwiches).
I thought that PIGFEST was appropriate especially when taking into consideration one of our plays - '12 Angry Pigs' - I found it online. Mary K. directed and appeared as Pig #1, while I chose Pig #4 as a role that I would take. Not to 'hog' the limelight but I think our play was great!!

Life is a “Grind”

In this case it is at the annual Cane Grinding Festival – located east of Labelle, Florida. It is held to benefit the local Fire Department and to acknowledge the importance of sugar cane to the region. More photos will appear on my SHUTTERFLY site: http://bontempsrouler.shutterfly.com/itsagrind
so please check that out.

Started this year with an epiphany – well, not really but in Tarpon Springs there is a ceremony, among the sponge diving community, in which a priest throws a cross into the bay and the young boys dive to see who can recover it.

 This statue commemorates that – it occurs on the day of the Epiphany in January. Tarpon Springs is populated by people who emigrated from Greece and who founded a sponge diving industry here in the US.

 The mural depicts an early type of diving – where the diver would have air delivered via a hose but little else.

 The diver monument depicts the full diving suit.

We visited tarpon Springs with friends – one of whom exhibited a keen interest in the sponges.

As many of you know, MK & I volunteer to work at the 12 hour auto race that occurs here in Sebring each March. This week, at the Sebring Airport, was the: U.S. SPORT AVIATION EXPO . Friends had volunteered to help and asked us if we’d like to do so as well. Always up for something out of the ordinary, we accepted. Our ‘duty area’ was the flightline in front of the main terminal –
MK at the ‘reception table’ and me, I got to drive a 6 passenger golf cart that was used to ferry people from one area to another. Great job for me since I got to talk to lots of people and drive along the planes parked in the area – some were ‘experimental aircraft’…

Sebring and many other airfields in Florida – were created during WWII. Sebring still has it’s original tower from that era!
